PATIENTS' STORIES - NATANGWE TANGENI MATHEUS

Born on the 3rd of February 2009- Tangeni was born with a hole just above his nose. his mother, Rosalia did not know what this was.She was referred to the hospital in Windhoek. On arrival, the family decided to appeal to the Namibian public for assistance and also wrote a letter to the office of the First Lady. The foundation was informed about this boy and has been closely involved with the family since then. A consultation with the neurosurgeon showed that Tangeni was extremely under weight and therefore he had to gain weight before any operation could be perfomed. He has been on a monitored diet since the end of October.

The results on the CT Scan also revealed a small build up of fluid in his brain that leads to his right side not functioning as well as his left side. Despite all the ups and downs - Tangeni is an extremely friendly and active boy who currently does not quite understand his condition.

His operation has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday 17th February 2010.

After a successful 1st operation - its 3 months later and Natangwe is going in on the 31st of May to have his 2nd operation on the 1st of June at the Central Hospital.
